Ravi remains an outright $4.40 favourite in 2017 Sapphire Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au despite drifting, ahead of Tycoon Tara ($6) and Artistry ($8.50).

Will Ravi justify favouritism and win the 2017 Sapphire Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset on Day 2 of The Championships?

Tycoon Tara ($6)

A proven first-up performer, Tycoon Tara should relish the conditions of the Sapphire Stakes and will be extremely tough to beat in the Group 2 race. Taking out each of the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) upon resuming in spring, the Written Tycoon mare ran fourth in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) before returning to winning form in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m). Last seen finishing second in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m), Tycoon Tara has trailed well in the lead-up to her Sapphire Stakes return and will be partnered by Blake Shinn.

Ocean Embers ($13)

Ocean Embers will return from a freshen-up in the Sapphire Stakes and represents terrific value at current $13 odds to win, or $4.10 to finish in the first three. Posting five wins and a minor through her twelve career starts so far, the Beneteau mare resumed this time for eighth in the Listed Nudgee Quality (1200m) before returning to winning form in the Group 3 Bow Mistress Trophy (1200m) on February 3rd. Ocean Embers was last seen running a credible eighth in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) on February 26th and should relish a return to mares’ company in the Sapphire Stakes.

Artistry ($7.50)

Artistry carries winning form into the Sapphire Stakes and is another horse who should be right in the finish of the race. Running second in the Group 3 Nivison Stakes (1200m) and winning the Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) during a short spring campaign, the Shamardal mare resumed for a smart win in the Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m) on March 11th and has reportedly taken plenty of benefit from the race, ahead of her second-up start on Saturday.
