Ravi will contest the race as a first point of call this time in, but interestingly figures as the outright $4.20 favourite in 2017 Sapphire Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Resuming in spring for a close second behind Heavens Above in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m), the Redoute’s Choice mare placed fourth in the Group 3 Cape Grim Beef Steaks (1200m) and fifth in the Listed MSS Security Sprint (1200m), before ending her year with a smart win in the Listed Just Now Handicap (1300m) at Eagle Farm.

Having trialled well in the lead-up to her competitive return, Ravi will have to overcome a wide and awkward barrier draw in the Sapphire Stakes, but will be partnered by Kerrin McEvoy and will carry only 54kgs.

Tycoon Tara has received steady support in 2017 Sapphire Stakes betting markets and the mare remains the sole occupant of the second line, at a generous $6.50 quote.

Tycoon Tara has been a strong and consistent performer throughout her entire racing career so far, but has undoubtedly found her best form since transferring to the care of Peter & Paul Snowden in 2016.

Taking out each of the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Show County Quality (1200m) upon resuming in spring, the Written Tycoon mare ran fourth in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m), before returning to winning form in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m).

Having been sent to the paddock after placing second in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on October 15th, Tycoon Tara has performed well on the heavy going in her recent barrier trials and arguably offers punters the best value for money in Sapphire Stakes betting markets.

Artistry has so-far received the greatest market share of bets to win the Sapphire Stakes and is subsequently a clear $8 market mover and third-favourite.

Posting a commendable career total of eight wins and four minors through a total of twenty starts, Artistry was only kept to light duties through the recent Spring Carnival, but managed a close second in the Group 3 Nivison Stakes (1200m) and smart win in the Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) on Melbourne Cup Day.

The Shamardal mare resumed for a smart win in the Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m) on March 11th and has drawn ideally into the Sapphire Stakes field in barrier 7, with the notable advantage of Hugh Bowman in the saddle.
